Chloé eyewear frames
Gabriella Hanoka is the founder of the CHLOE brand. Born in Egypt in 1921, she came to France in 1945 and settled in Paris as a stylist. On arriving in the capital, Gabriella found the fashion of the time cold and bleak. In 1952, with her husband Raymond Aghion, they launched the CHLOE brand.
In 1956, Gabriella teamed up with Jacques Lenoir to bring a more cheerful touch to the brand, offering clothes in soft, fine fabrics and luxury ready-to-wear. Together, they unveiled their first collection at the Café de Flore. A gathering place for artists, philosophers and theologians... The clothes were bold, free-spirited and extremely popular. The brand was definitely launched.
Until the arrival of Karl Lagerfeld, CHLOE worked with young designers who created casual yet elegant ready-to-wear. Lagerfeld made his mark with tender, feminine designs such as dresses with cape collars revealing bare backs, silk crepes, lace... Lagerfeld opened his first boutique on rue du Bac, followed by others in the capital. Fashion shows were themed: music, plumbers, mechanics... Guy Paulin, his successor, kept the same inspirations.
In 1992, Karl Lagerfeld returned, showing models in hand-painted ivory tulle dresses. In the 2000s, three young British designers take over CHLOE and launch accessory collections: bags, shoes, leather goods and CHLOE eyewear frames.
Since December 2020, Gabriela Heasrt has been the new Artistic Director for ready-to-wear, accessories and leather goods.
