The Lacoste brand: a crocodile at the origin of its history

René Lacoste and André Gillier are the two founders of the Lacoste high-end ready-to-wear clothing company. Born in Paris in 1904, René Lacoste was first and foremost a top-level tennis player. André Gillier, nicknamed the "philanthropic industrialist", was a trailblazer in the fields of wage policy and business start-ups. The two partners start manufacturing a white jersey shirt with short sleeves and a mesh collar, designed for golfers and tennis players. The brand's innovative green crocodile logo was inscribed on the sportswear, and later on all the label's products. Since then, the family has grown: perfumes, watches, sunglasses, tennis shoes... Launched in 2013, the Lacoste sunglasses and eyewear collection is dedicated to girls and boys aged 10 to 16.
