In Les Rousses, Jura, in 1932, Jules Morel chose the profession of spectacle-maker. He has two children: Germaine and Marius. Marius, passionate about the same trade as his father, settled in Morez, where he also made eyeglasses.

In the 1960s, Marius' son Jacques took over the business and launched the "Tydée" collection. The frame features a very fine gold-lined wire. It was a great success with artists, young people and many celebrities.

In the '70s, eyewear became a fashion accessory and was no longer considered a "medical prosthesis". In the 90's, the family business was taken over by Jacques' children: Amélie, Francis and Jérôme. A design competition was launched. Designers were asked to create an avant-garde frame. Jonas Blanking was selected and came up with the Öga brand. In 2003, Jérôme Morel decided to create brands with different universes, and the Koali, Nomad, Rebel and Lightec brands were born.
