Façonnable eyewear

The French women's and men's ready-to-wear brand Façonnable was founded in 1950 by Jean Goldberg. Based on the Côte d'Azur in Nice, he was a tailor by trade, making made-to-measure suits.

In 1961, Albert Goldberg, his son, took over the family workshop in Nice. His father had passed on to him the art of finishing, cutting and the sense of detail of the great craftsmen of Eastern Europe. Jean Goldberg used to say of his son, "He has a needle's touch that others don't have".

The name of the brand was given by Albert, based on a simple anecdote. While playing soccer, aged just 20, he noticed a masonry sign reading "façonnerie". He decided to call his father's store "Façonnable". His father didn't agree, and wanted to continue calling his store Jean Tailleur. History would confirm this wish.

Jean Goldbert presented his first collection in 1962. It offered to dress every man from hat to shoes. Albert Goldberg quickly became a reference on the French Riviera. His success attracted the greatest international stars. Tony Curtis and Cary Grand became brand ambassadors. in 1973, Façonnable opened its first boutiques in Cannes, Monte-Carlo, Saint-Tropez, Marseille, Paris and Lyon.

In the mid-70s, the brand launched a collection for active men. It worked with major American and European brands, including Van's, Sebago and Alden.

Albert Goldbert and Loro Piana created a manufacturing process that combined noble materials with new technologies. Thanks to an invisible membrane, cashmeres and woollens become wind- and waterproof, while retaining their breathable qualities. in the late '80s, Façonnable diversified, offering collections for women and children, as well as a wide range of accessories: perfumes, watches, bags, socks and eyewear. The brand opens boutiques in the United States.

In 1987, optician ODLM offers Façonnable a partnership on a collection of sunglasses and optical eyewear. This alliance has lasted for over 30 years. In 1990, Façonnable launched its first watch collection, followed in 1995 by its first women's line on the American market. Acquired in 2007 by the Lebanese M1 Group, then in 2016 by the Pepe Jeans Group, the label continues to represent the brand's talents, creating tasteful new collections to perpetuate the brand's heritage.

Focus on Façonnable eyewear

Façonnable eyewear is now available for children, women and men. The frames are made from 3 different materials, each offering different qualities. Beta titanium is flexible, rubber is comfortable and titanium is lightweight.

Façonnable eyewear frames are refined, simple and modern in design. They come in a wide range of colors to suit everyone: blue, burgundy, light tortoiseshell, dark tortoiseshell, gray, black... The frames are inspired by vintage style, with rectangular, round, aviator and oval shapes.

Most Façonnable eyewear lenses are made of polycarbonate, a highly resistant material. At MyMonture, lenses are fitted by our qualified opticians and come from Essilor.
