PRADA sunglasses
History of the Italian Prada brand
Founded in Milan in 1913 by craftsman Mario Prada and his brother Martino, the brand was then known as Fratelli Prada. Their leather products were recognized for their excellent quality, and the business flourished.
Half a century later, Mario's granddaughter joined the luxury leather goods business created by her grandfather. With her husband Patrizio Bertelli, an entrepreneur in the luxury leather goods industry, they introduced new trends. In 1985, they launched nylon bags, and in 1988 developed women's ready-to-wear. Then, in 1993, the couple introduced the Miu Miu label with wardrobe essentials for women. A few years later, in 1997, the Prada brand added ready-to-wear sportswear.
In 2000, Prada launched its first fragrances in its new department, under the name Prada Beauty.
Since then, the brand has continued to enhance its offerings with shoes, tailored clothing, sunglasses and Prada eyewear. Today, the label has become one of the world's most successful luxury brands.
