Demetz sunglasses
Roger DEMETZ is the founder of the brand that bears his name. An optician by trade, Roger DEMETZ was also a professional diver. In 1942, after graduating from the Morez School of Optics, he began his career with the Lissac brothers, before opening his first optical store in Gannat in the Allier department. In 1950, he moved to the 12th arrondissement of Paris, where he created his own brand. A keen scuba diver, Roger DEMETZ combined his profession with his hobbies.
Very active in the scuba diving sector, he launched the first diving school in Paris. Noting the lack of eye protection, he manufactured the first optical diving mask in 1951 and patented it in 1957.
He founded one of the oldest freediving and diving clubs, the SCP (Subaqua Club de Paris). He remained president until 1986. At the same time, he joined the founding team of the Visual opticians group. His first optical swimming goggles were created in 1968. In the years that followed, he imagined and designed new eyewear for a variety of sports. DEMETZ's expertise also extends to sunglasses for children and toddlers from the age of 6 months. The one-piece rubber hinge prevents toddlers from pinching their fingers. They feature a removable elastic strap covered in soft fabric to keep the lens in place. to this day, the brand is renowned for everything to do with sports optics.
Thanks to its high-quality lenses and frames, the brand has a number of famous ambassadors. The French artistic parachuting team, cyclist Rémy Di Gregorio and explorer Rodolphe Journoud all wear DEMETZ designs and colors.

Some DEMETZ sunglass frames are adjustable at nose level, with tips at the end of the temples to prevent the sunglasses from slipping off.
Quality lenses for your sunglasses
Lenses may or may not be corrective. Depending on your needs, you can choose from a variety of coatings. They can be anti-reflective or polarizing, with thicknesses of 2 and 4 millimeters (they limit reflections and rays reflected by water), which are essential by the sea or near a lake. Aleophobic lenses are useful in rainy weather, as they help water to slide off. You can also choose photochromic lenses that tint in sunlight. There are several protection levels, ranging from 2 to 4.
Most of the brand's sunglasses are made of polycarbonate, an impact-resistant material. DEMETZ sunglasses are available in a wide range of colors. In the descriptions of DEMETZ sunglasses, you'll find the following abbreviations on the MyMonture website: Cat.0, Cat.1.... These correspond to the lens tint. For information, Cat.0 corresponds to a very light yellow color, ideal for foggy weather. The bright yellow Cat.1 protects against weak sunlight. The orange Cat.2 is designed for walks in undergrowth or foggy conditions. The gray/green Cat.3 transmits natural color vision. The brown Cat.4 is very effective in bright light. This color is highly recommended for children.
Each pair of sunglasses comes with a microfiber zipped case.
Last but not least, you'll find the brand's discreet signature on one of the sunglasses' temples.
