Myopia: a very common eye disorder
Affecting almost 29% of the French population, myopia is a widespread eye problem. Generally appearing in childhood or adolescence, myopia can have various origins: heredity, environment, working conditions, etc. It is therefore important to consult your eye care professional regularly. So it's important to consult an ophthalmologist regularly to have your eyesight checked, from an early age.
With an eye that is geometrically too long, or one that is too powerful, a myopic person has excellent near vision, but blurred distance vision. The greater the myopia, the shorter the distance of clear vision. The perception of distant objects is therefore imprecise.
In order to better see what's around them, short-sighted people generally squint, which is one of their main characteristics. To correct this minor visual defect, myopes can wear corrective lenses (negative, concave or convergent) to regulate their vision.
