A better understanding of hyperopia
Hyperopia is a visual defect caused by an eye that is geometrically too short. The image is therefore focused behind the retina.
Affecting almost 9% of the French population, hyperopia can cause headaches, a feeling of tightness in the eyes, and even eye fatigue. When hyperopia is too severe, it can lead to strabismus. As soon as the first symptoms appear, you need to consult an ophthalmologist to prevent further damage to your eyesight.
Unlike myopes, hypermetropes have the characteristic of seeing well at a distance, but not up close. Their vision becomes blurred, forcing them to make great efforts to focus. The perception of close-up objects is therefore imprecise. This is the case for activities such as reading or office work. To correct hyperopia, we strongly recommend wearing glasses with positive corrective lenses (convex or convergent).
