A little history

The town of Morez in the Jura is nicknamed "the French capital of eyewear". In 1796, Pierre-Hyacinthe Caseaux, a nail-maker based in the village, began making spectacles in Morez. This blacksmith and nailmaker came up with the idea of using metal wire to make spectacles (known at the time as bésicles) for visual defects.

In 1888, Jules Baud (later Julbo) founded his company and innovated with the creation of the first "Cristalliers" eyewear, designed to protect the eyes of mountaineers.
