Ophtalmic contact lenses
In 1986, the Ophtalmic laboratory became an essential partner for French eyesight. Since then, it has specialized in the multi-brand distribution of contact lenses, as well as the care products essential for good contact lens hygiene. The institute came up with the idea of offering all opticians the opportunity to centralize their purchases, in order to benefit from preferential and competitive prices.
By acting as a link between spectacle makers and major manufacturers, the brand offers market accessibility, greater profits and guaranteed competition for professionals and patients alike, who benefit from this novelty.
The following years were marked by modernity and know-how, thanks to the innovations launched by the Ophtalmic brand.
Key years for the Ophtalmic laboratory
In 1994, the laboratory launched a new multifunctional solution called Jazz Aquasilk. It proved a great success with soft lens wearers.
In 1996, Ophtalmic launched its own brand of contact lenses for the first time, with Ophtalmic 55 monthly lenses, making it the specialist in regular and frequent lenses for patients with sensitive eyes. The innovative design of these new lenses brings unparalleled comfort to regular wearers.
In 1998, sales of Ophtalmic contact lenses soared thanks to Inform'Optique magazine's "Pont d'Or" award for the best spherical soft lenses.
Then, in the 2000s, new innovations were introduced. Ophtalmic contact lenses became toric monthly soft lenses for astigmatism. Ophtalmic Aspheric contact lenses, which improve performance at the periphery of images, compensate for severe myopia.
2001 saw the arrival of colored lenses, with or without correction, and monthly cosmetic lenses.
A major innovation in 2002 was the launch of Ophtalmic progressive contact lenses for presbyopes. They relieve many patients of the inconvenience of wearing glasses.
In 2003, the Ophtalmic signature becomes the fourth best-known and recognized brand on the French market.
Creation and innovation of new Ophtalmic contact lenses
Building on its 18 years' experience in contact optics, the laboratory expands its ranges by inaugurating an Ophthalmic lens department.
From 2004 to 2006, astigmatism sufferers will finally discover the RX Toric lens, a made-to-measure lens that will compensate for their visual defect. The new-generation Ophtalmic HydroFeel monthly lens is virtually insensitive to dehydration. These new products will be available as daily lenses from 2006.
The Ophtalmic laboratory is constantly innovating
As lens sales continue to grow, the laboratory decides to expand its range of lens care products. The Jazz PerOxyde 2 h solution and the preservative-free Jazz Silicone range were launched.
In 2009, after two years of research, Ophtalmic Max2 lenses, the first third-generation Silicone-Hydrogel contact lenses, were launched. They are accompanied by Ophtalmic RGP rigid lenses and its care product Jazz RG Plus.
Ophthalmic One Day Toric lenses are also available for astigmatism. The daily lens range is extended to all corrections. In 2012, it won the "Pont d'Or" award for contact lenses.
One of the latest technical innovations from the Ophtalmic laboratories revolutionizes the 121st SFO congress in Paris in 2015. The Ophtalmic Overnight lens reshapes the curvature of the cornea while you sleep, restoring clear, flawless vision throughout the day without glasses or contacts.
