Optometrist

An optometrist is a professional of the eye and visual system, and more generally, of sight. Providing a complete visual and ocular service, the optometrist most often performs refraction examinations, i.e. measuring the power of the eye's defect.

He is also qualified to supply optical equipment such as prescription glasses or contact lenses, and is trained to detect eye diseases. Optometrists also aim to rehabilitate patients' vision and make it more comfortable for them. He is not, however, qualified to operate.
