Menicon lenses: brand history

The story of the Menicon brand began in 1950. Thanks to the wife of an American army officer, Kyoichi Tanaka (Chairman of Menicon) discovered contact lenses.

Initially, he devoted himself to manufacturing contact lenses using airplanes, socket protectors and other products.

In just three months, the first Japanese contact lens prototype is developed. In 1952, the Nippon Contact Lens Research Institute was founded, and a large-scale production operation followed. It was this organization that later became the Menicon company. From 1970 to 1989, Menicon enjoyed great success, and sales of its products soared. The Menicon laboratory begins by developing intraocular lenses. In 1977, Menicon Europe in France is established and the company celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary. In 1985, Japan authorizes Menicon to manufacture intraocular lenses (implants).

In 2000, a commemorative plaque is placed on the Tamamizuya optical store. It designates the company as the "birthplace of contact lenses" in Japan. Throughout the 2000s, Menicon continued to grow and establish itself in Spain, Holland, the United Kingdom... then Asia...

They offer maximum comfort throughout the day, whether you're in an air-conditioned environment, in front of your computer screen or late at night. They are ideal for hypermetropes and myopes, and are renewed every two weeks.

Indivisual contact lenses are renewed quarterly.
