Demetz ski masks
Roger DEMETZ is the brand's founder. On the one hand, he was an optician by trade, and on the other, an excellent diver and scuba-diving enthusiast. After graduating from the Morez optics school in 1942, Roger DEMETZ began his career with the Lissac brothers. He soon opened his first boutique in Gannat, in the Allier region, before moving to Paris in 1950 to create his own brand. Combining his profession with his passion, in 1951 he produced the first optical diving mask. He registered the patent only in 1957, after perfecting his invention to the utmost. In 1966, Roger DEMETZ turned his attention to the manufacture of ski masks and goggles, followed by goggles for board sports such as snowboarding. In 1968, he developed the first optical swimming goggles, which he improved over the years. Since then, hundreds of ski goggles have been manufactured and sold by the brand.
In 1988, his son Gilles DEMETZ, himself an optician, succeeded him. He continued in his father's footsteps, imagining and designing eyewear for a wide range of sports: skiing, team sports, shooting, motorcycling, cycling, parachuting...
Year after year, the brand continues to provide sportsmen and women with quality products thanks to its research. The DEMETZ brand has received numerous awards, including the Silmo d'or, won 6 times, and the Pont d'or and d'argent. DEMETZ supports a variety of initiatives and partnerships. Most notably, DEMETZ partnered Rémy Di Grgorio in the 2007 and 2008 Tours de France. The brand also supported Guillaume and Johanne Julian's 3-year tandem tour of Africa, crossing 30 countries over 40,000 kilometers. DEMETZ has also teamed up with a couple who spent 18 months cycling in Central Asia on fair trade routes.
DEMETS ski masks: the essential eyewear accessory
Do you go skiing regularly or just once a year? Or do you live in the mountains all year round? As you know, this is a place where the rays are very intense. Reverberation from the snow increases the harmful effects on your eyes. Consequently, a ski mask not only protects them from ultraviolet rays, but also from snow, snowfall and wind.
DEMETZ ski masks are both attractive and durable. They feature a photochromic or polarizing filter to protect your eyes from the sun's rays, enhance color contrast, optimize visual comfort and vision, and reduce reverberation from icy and snowy ground. If you prefer an over-glasses goggle, it needs to be equipped with temporal recesses for the temples to pass through, and a satisfactory interior volume to allow the frame to pass through. Better still, you'll appreciate the brand's latest patented innovation. It's the Opticop optical insert. This allows you to mount your corrective lenses in your ski mask thanks to flexible wings.
More comfort and style with Demetz
The Demetz brand offers a range of models for even greater comfort. You'll find ski helmets with fleece-finish foam to keep you warm throughout your sport. Some frames feature double thermoformed foam. We also offer interchangeable lenses and temples with double ventilated screens.
There are many frame colors to choose from: black, orange, blue, dark gray... you're bound to find a color that goes perfectly with your ski outfit. As for the lenses of your ski mask, we recommend Cat.3 in gray and green, gray or brown for skiing in "normal" conditions, and Cat.4 in brown or gray for high-altitude skiing.
DEMETZ has developed several ski mask references for children aged 3 and over. To delight them, we offer frames featuring their favorite Disney heroes under the Disney Snow Queen, Hello Kitty and Star Wars licenses. For maximum comfort, the ski goggles for youngsters feature a double cylindrical polycarbonate lens. They are anti-fog treated and feature soft, dual-density hypoallergenic foam. If your child needs corrective lenses, he or she can benefit from the Opicop 5 system. The lenses simply click into place inside the mask frame. You can also opt for over-glasses, which allow your child's prescription glasses to be inserted into the mask.
