Contact lens reimbursement

Unlike glasses, contact lenses are subject to certain regulations concerning reimbursement by French national health insurance. For optical equipment (frames + corrective lenses), each person is reimbursed to a greater or lesser extent depending on their correction and age, according to the LPPR grid.

Lenses, on the other hand, are only reimbursed by French national health insurance for people with a particular condition. This is because French national health insurance takes into account visual defects that can only be corrected by contact lenses, and not by prescription glasses. Here is a list of the various conditions for which French national health insurance reimburses lenses:

-Aphakia (removal of the crystalline lens)

-Irregular astigmatism

-Keratoconus (corneal deformity)

-Myopia greater than or equal to 8 dioptres

-3-diopter anisometropia that cannot be corrected with glasses (i.e., the difference in correction power between the two eyes is greater than 3 diopters).

-Accommodative strabismus

Of course, if you suffer from one of the above-mentioned conditions and would like to have a prescription for a lens, please contact us.tablish a prescription for lenses, your ophthalmologist will indicate on your prescription that you are entitled to reimbursement by French national health insurance.
