Today, 6 out of 10 people prefer to buy French-made eyewear. But what are consumers' priorities? And what information do they know about reimbursement?
Today's trend is for French-made products, but what about eyewear?
A brief history
Spectacles were invented in Italy at the end of the 13th century, by Alexandro Spina, Salvino d'Amarmato and Roger Bacon (an English monk).
Spectacles began to be manufactured in France around 1450. At the end of the 16th century, mirror-makers, spectacle-makers and bimbelotiers were grouped together in the same guild. However, the work on lenses was more common than that on frames, reserved for other trades such as corroyeurs.
It was in 1720 that the title of optician was bestowed on bezicle merchants, designating specialists in the manufacture of eyeglasses, optical and precision instruments, as well as numerous derivatives (telescopes, telescopes, etc.).
Let's talk about Mymonture's historic brand.
The 1796 brand
Indeed, it was Pierre-Yacinthe Caseaux who gave birth to eyewear made in France. A Jura craftsman, in 1796 he innovated spectacles with metal wires, giving rise to the temple frame that hooks behind the ears. In 1820, his first eyewear factory was set up in Morez. Today, the manufacture of 1796 eyewear is entrusted from generation to generation to the heirs of this French know-how.

More..
In 1938, Georges Morézien and his 2 brothers opened the first free eye test in France, combining sales and workshop. Fashion arrived in eyewear in 1950, and glasses became a fashion accessory, complementing every style and silhouette. The priority during all these years was visual correction, but price was also taken into account.
Today, opticians are gradually regaining their position as paramedics in their own right, whether in stores or on the Internet, and more and more brands are establishing themselves in this French-made market. But what about consumer priorities?
