In addition to the various quality frames they are able to offer, Ray-Ban is also known for its RX, sun and optical lenses. This week, Mymonture takes a look at Ray-Ban's lenses and their special features.
Not content with being the undisputed leader in spectacle frames, Ray-Ban has also entered the lens sector, in order to satisfy its customers in both frames and optics.
A guarantee of original quality
The special feature of Ray-Ban lenses, whether optical or sunglasses, is that they are engraved with the initials and name of Ray-Ban. This ensures that you'll recognize a Ray-Ban lens when you see one. You'll see the Ray-Ban logo on the corner of the right lens and the initials "RB" engraved on the left lens.
Technology for your well-being
Ray-Ban lenses are about much more than aesthetics. The technology used to polish these lenses has been designed to guarantee optimal, uncompromising visual comfort, whether for sunglasses or white lenses. Each lens offered by Ray-Ban meets a very specific need, and we are now going to take a look at the different types of lenses offered by Ray-Ban.
Classic lenses

Classic lenses come in two colors: green G-15 and brown B-15. These are Category 3 lenses that filter out 85% of UV rays, making them ideal for most sunny outdoor activities. You can also read our article on the different categories of sunglasses. Green lenses are slightly more suitable for hypermetropic wearers, while brown lenses are more effective for myopic wearers.
Gradient lenses

As their name suggests, gradient lenses have a different tint depending on the area of the lens. The lens will be darker at the top and progressively lighter towards the bottom. There are two types of material for this type of lens: mineral (glass) and organic (plastic). The two materials have different manufacturing methods, but the end result is always of the same high quality.
Prescription lenses

Having already offered a range of very interesting sun lenses, Ray-Ban has also decided to offer white lenses, which can be adapted to all corrections and all frame types.
Special lenses
Because users sometimes have very specific needs, Ray-Ban has launched several ranges of special lenses:
- Mirror lenses : these are lenses that reflect the surrounding environment thanks to metal oxides heated to very high temperatures, which are then fused into the lens at the molecular level to give a uniform deposit. Mirror coatings also help to limit glare, but be careful not to confuse them with polarizing glass.

- Polarizing lenses polarizing lenses prevent rays that have been polarized by a special filter from entering the eye. This has the effect of reducing the sensation of glare, which occurs particularly in summer.

As we have seen, Ray-Ban now offers a wide range of lenses, all designed to provide optimum visual comfort for the wearer.
