Our eyesight changes over the years. Some people need to have their eyesight checked more often than others. But it can also be reassuring if a slight change is noticed. Your MyMonture optician offers you a freeeye examination. The eye test will enable you toadjust your correction to fit your lenses to your frame. So you don't have to go back to your ophthalmologist to renew your glasses - your optician can adapt the prescription. To have your eyes checked by your optician, you must meet the following conditions:
- - You must be over 16. It is forbidden to perform an eye test on anyone under 16.
- - Have a valid prescription.
How do I know if my prescription is still valid or not?
Prescription validity varies according to age.
For eyeglasses :
- - For children under 6: Prescription valid for 6 months.
- - For children aged 6 to 16: Prescription valid for 1 year.
- - 16 to 42 years: Prescription valid for 5 years.
- - + Over 42: Prescription valid for 3 years.
For contact lenses:
- - Children under 16 = Prescription valid for 1 year.
- - People over 16 = prescription valid for 3 years.
Glasses reimbursement
By law, you must wait a certain amount of time before you can change your glasses and be reimbursed by your supplementary health insurance. Once again, this period varies according to age.
- - For under-16s: 1 time/year.
- - For over 16s: 1 x / 2 years.
These conditions are subject to change. If you have an eye test at your optician's and he notes a change in your eyesight, you can renew your equipment and be reimbursed after 1 year. However, if the optician notices a significant change during the eye test, he will refer you to your ophthalmologist for a more detailed diagnosis. For people under 16, it is possible to change frames and lenses each time you change your correction.
How does an eye examination work?
During the examination, your optician will use the correction on your valid prescription. He will test your eyesight by slightly adapting the correction.
