As we saw in our previous article, lenses have many specific characteristics. The primary purpose of lenses is to correct the various ametropias that can affect the eyes, such as myopia and hyperopia. However, as the lens is an object placed directly on the cornea, some researchers have realized that it is possible to modify the perceived color of the iris by coloring the lens in a certain way.

Why coloured lenses?

Feel like changing your look, but not sure where to start? You could try colored lenses. Indeed, the color of a person's eyes is one of the first things you notice. So, if you adopt colored lenses, there's a good chance that those around you, or the people you associate with, will notice the change in iris color.

Of course, anyone can wear colored lenses, and they're not just for people who need corrective lenses. You can also browse our selection of corrected and uncorrected colored lenses.

Care instructions

Do you want to wear colored lenses for the first time and have no corrective lenses? You don't need a prescription, but make sure you always observe the safety precautions that apply to lenses. What are they? First and foremost, wash your hands with a disinfectant solution and dry them with a clean, dry towel. The eye is a highly sensitive organ, and bacteria can quickly find their way onto the lens and infect the cornea, leading to complications. You must also be careful to respect the wearing time of your lenses, and never keep them in overnight. If you opt for monthly lenses, you'll also need to clean them with a multifunctional product before each wear, or each time you remove them to put them back in their blister pack.

Another very important point concerning contact lenses in general is that they are personal and should never be used by more than one person.

Aesthetic advice

Of course, the direct effect on your cornea will be unique, depending on the initial color of your iris. If you have light eyes, the result will be more visible and therefore more convincing than if you have darker eyes. But don't despair if you have brown eyes: the result can be satisfactory with lenses in bold colors such as passion blue.

Colored lenses are a wonderful invention that has enabled many people to change the color of their eyes. However, you need to be careful, as lenses are first and foremost a medical device and must be handled with care.
